The International Yacht & Aviation Awards

Lawson Robb have been shortlisted for the Interior Design Award – Under 40 Metres in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards.

Lawson Robb were the first designers to collaborate alongside Francesco Guida to create Project Haze. The Extra Yachts brand new model is a 26.2 metre 86 Fast yacht.

Lawson Robb were approached by their English client to create Project Haze. The Client had commissioned three residential projects previously within the Allect International Design Group, which houses brands Lawson Robb, Rigby and Rigby and Helen Green Design. The client was on the lookout for a new-build yacht to use in the Mediterranean and the Client entrusted the team to find and commission the yacht itself to suit the Client’s brief before beginning work on the interiors.

The serenity and unique Yacht layout created by the team means Project Haze has many aspects to it that create this truly special project. For the Head Designer, George Wolstenholme, the more spacious aft deck is the favourite feature on board especially as this can be transformed into an entertainment space with a projector for late night outdoor movies.

Additionally, the design team feel the unique feature of integration between guest and crew space with the galley, which sits aft of the main deck, and creates the apartment feel and continuity throughout the project is something that they have not seen anywhere else, making this something completely new to Yacht Design. It also met the brief from the client of the request of his love for the Italian brand as the Extra 86 yacht is built in Italy and designed by Francesco Guida.

Once the yacht was commissioned, Lawson Robb began work on the interiors creating a contemporary but pared back interior with a penthouse feel as requested in the brief, revolving around a colour scheme of blues and greys. Changes to meet the brief internally also began by making changes to the cabinetry and the creation of a feature area in the main saloon where the owner could display a favourite piece of art, all of which creates the requested serene and calm environment.
