Lawson Robb appointed for new 31m Darwin 102 explorer yacht

Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) will build a new unit from its 31.1-metre Darwin 102 series for an experienced British owner. Her sale was brokered by Carlo Aquilanti, Sales Manager at CdM and Andrew Bond of Fraser. Delivery is scheduled for 2025.

The explorer series features exterior design and naval architecture by Hydro Tec and the interior spaces of this latest unit will be designed by Lawson Robb. She will offer accommodation for 12 guests across five staterooms; the owner suite is situated on the main deck forward, while the four guest staterooms are located on the lower deck. She can also host five crew.

The client discovered the Darwin series at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 after visiting the slightly larger Darwin 106, Uptight. He was impressed by the build quality, the volume and the ability to cross the Atlantic comfortably. A few tweaks were suggested, including adjustments to the windscreen in the wheelhouse and an additional tender crane added. Much like her sisters though, she’ll have two saloons: one on the main deck and the other on the upper.

The new Darwin 102 will have a displacement of 240 tonnes and a gross tonnage of 245 GT. She’ll be equipped with twin Caterpillar engines that deliver a 5,000 nautical mile range at 9 knots and a top speed of 13 knots. She will be commercially classified and available for charter.
